2023 Society for Behavioral Medicine Annual Conference, Phoenix, AZ

  • Behavioral health screening for university student athletes. Presentation by Biber, D. D., Davis, A. & Stewart, B.

  • Researchers will be presenting on the use of the Heads Up Checkup and Sharpen platform to provide mental health behavioral health screening to university athletes. The results of the screenings as well as best-practices for the protocol will be presented.

 

2023 American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOM) - Annal Education Leaders Conference, Baltimore, MD.

  • Stigma, Resilience and Connectedness in Medical School: How a Mental Health App Can Help. Presented by Fadel, N., Stoner, A., Ridgeway, L.

  • Findings of this pilot study suggest that medical students experienced decreased stigma of mental health within the school setting following use of the Sharpen service, accessed mental health screeners embedded within the app, and utilized the app to connect to seek help. Based on these results, we propose that medical schools incorporate mobile-based technology into their mental health support programs.

 

2023 Southeastern School Behavioral Health Conference, SC Department of Education

  • Research and best practices for deploying "5 Minute Mindfulness" in the classroom or school setting.  Presented by Hussa Farrel, R.

  • Findings include 10 years of data deploying MBSR activities in Resilient Schools initiatives and strategies for success.
     

2023 American Psychiatric Association Annual Conference, San Francisco, CA

  • "Sylvia the Wood Nymph" a documentary about childhood trauma, resilience, dissociative identity disorder and eating disorders.  Presenters: Brewerton, T., Hussa Farrell, R., Farrell, T.

  • Participants experience a 30 minute section of the documentary film and engage in a Q&A dialogue with the film makers.
